I noticed there is a menu option under BUILD called Deploy Objects, but that doesn't seem to do anything.  Basically I would like to know how to deploy a file from a sandbox (the org I'm connected to) to production.

    Thanks.

      Hi,

Currently "Deploy Objects" option deploys only custom and standard objects changes to the org, while in the next release it will deploy all metadata as well.

We do not have an option to deploy from sandbox to production (or from one org to another) at the moment, but we have this in our roadmap for the next releases.

Please let us know if there are any other features that you'd like to you and that are missing in The Welkin Suite in the "Feature Requests" forum and we'll do our best to implement most important features asap.

      Thanks,

      Vladimir

        Hi Vladimir,

Thank you for the response.  When will the next release be available?  It's kind of pointless to do work in a sandbox if it can't be pushed to production, and the main reason to use an IDE would be to work on classes, pages, and triggers.

I really like this idea:  using the VS shell to render Salesforce files.  Hopefully the next release comes soon and I'll try switching over to this suite.

        Thanks,

        Steve

          Hi Steve,

We have this feature (as well as some great features like conflicts merging, additional metadata support, etc.) planned for our release in late April.

We currently assume that performed changes will be later deployed from sandbox to a production org using Salesforce change sets (yup, we know that they're not so good as we'd like to). Maybe if you'll like other features - you can try doing this way.

          Thanks,

          Vladimir

            Hi Vladimir,

Yes I can definitely use change sets... but once it's available in the next release that'll be even better.

            Thanks,

            Steve

I cannot deploy from a Developer Org to a Sandbox. Is this feature supposed to work? I go to Build -> Deploy Objects and put in the credentials for my Sandbox org, then I select a Static Resource from my Developer Org, and I get the message that Deployment was successful, though nothing shows up in the Sandbox. I tried three times, different Static Resources. Finally I used Sublime and Mavens Mate and it worked fine.

              Was I doing something wrong?

              Thanks

                Hi.

                Thank you for your report.

Looks like you have used not the 'Deploy Objects', but the 'Deploy to organization' option in the Main Menu -> Project - there is the ability to specify credentials to the sandbox.

If this is correct, the fix for your issue will be released in the next version of the IDE on the next week.

If you have another case, please send us your log file using the next way: Main Menu -> Help -> Report a Bug, describe your issue and mark 'Attach the Log'.

                Thank you,

                Kate
