This is known issue for us.

Our developers are going to fix this as soon as possible.

Currently, as a workaround, you can do the next: please open the Main Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> Code Assistance, and remove all the symbols from the 'Commit Completion by typing following characters' list. In addition, you can disable the 'Preselect Completion in Competition List' option that is present in the same settings menu.

I kindly ask you to inform us if this workaround works for you.

This doesn't help. Clearing the values and unchecking the box doesn't stop the code completion from happening. The only way I've been able to get it to stop overwriting what I'm typing is by turning off the "Show Code Completion when typing".

For what it's worth, I want to be able to set the code completion mechanism to work ONLY if I hit Tab.

We are going to release the updated version of the IDE tonight.

The 0.30.7 version of TWS will include the fix for the incorrect work of the preselection option for the Code Completion suggestions.

I kindly ask you to update the IDE when the new version will be available for you. Please let us known if the current issue is reproduced after this.

Love this product it is really awesome. however.....

I am on 30.11.4 and I can confidently predict that by the end of tonight I will have thrown my monitor through the nearest window.

If you type "for(" it substitutes the following

ForecastingCategoryMapping(

when I type "if("

It substitutes "Custom_Object_Name__c("

which as you can imagine is a little annoying.

Please keep working on this as it is a great tool for force.com development.

Right now our developers continue to polish the Code Assistance functionality for Apex.

The issue you are faced with will be solved in a frame of this.

As a workaround, you can disable the preselection option for Code Completion suggestion till the issue will be solved. You can find this settings in the Main Menu -> Tools -> Options -> Text Editor -> Code Assistance. please disable the 'Preselect Completions in Completion List' item in the Code Completion section.

As a side note, I'll keep you updated when the issue will be solved.

Yep, code completion is wreaking havoc for me and my development team too.   It changes known variable names as I type them, modifies text inside of quotes, and adds class names after end-of-instruction delimiters (e.g. semicolons (;).   I think it's costing us more keystrokes to correct autocomplete than it's saving.

I don't see the option to disable 'Preselect Completions in Completion List' in the latest version of the Welkin Suite.  Is there another way to do this now?

Also, I'd like to add a couple of items to the customer wish list:

1. Provide an option to disable autocomplete while editing the contents inside of string delimiters (', ")
2. Provide an option to disable autocomplete after the end-of-instruction character (;)  It's habit to hit ; and then enter, which currently inserts unwanted text at the end of the line

May I please clarify with you which version of The Welkin Suite IDE do you use: Bloom (for Windows) or Blaze (for Mac)?

Currently, the 'Preselect Completions in Completion List' option is absent in TWS Blaze for Mac. We will add this in future versions of the IDE.

Also, can you please tell me if these issues are reproduced in your Apex files or any other? Since our developers worked on such issue in the code completion for Apex, they will additionally investigate the behavior which you have described. If this is applied to other files - we will consider which way we can solve this.
