Hi Michael,
It looks like you'll have to kill TWS process (if you haven't done this yet), however you should be able to work with it after restarting TWS.
If you have not yet killed TWS process or if you'll try to build once more and it will take more than a couple of minutes - please send us a bugreport from The Welkin Suite (Help -> Report a Bug) and please ensure that Attach Log File checkbox is checked. Int his case we will be able to analyse the reason of such behavior.
We've experienced such behavior some times when Salesforce was really not reposnding to TWS for a while (e.g. for 30+ minutes).
Thanks,
Vladimir

Actually I've killed and restarted TWS twice - no change in behavior. I've also done the report a bug thing, should include log.

Hi Michael,
According to the logs it's really Salesforce not answering to our requests. Is your org working good (and fast) from the browser?
Thanks,
Vladimir

From the browser it seems to be responding normally, I've been editing VF pages, viewing debug logs, and navigating leads, accounts, contacts and a couple of custom objects, and the response seems normal.

Update: left it running overnight and it finally canceled. Tried again this morning, still not building.

After the failed build I exited Welkin and restarted, and reopened the project. It now seems to be building normally. Since SF has been responding normally the whole time, is there any reason requests from Welkin might be treated differently, perhaps blocked or given a low priority?

Hi again Michael,
The reason for such behaviour can be using the different APIs in the requests to Salesforce.
Our team is working on the changes of the API for the Build process to avoid the cases you described.

Do you mean the tooling API vs the one we used to use (forgotten the name) or do you mean some components based on v32, others on v35, etc?

Hi Michael,
I mean the Tooling, Metadata and Partner API, which we use in complex with each other.

Kate

H iJoe,
Thank you for your contacting us with this information.
I kindly ask you to send us you Activity Log file. This will help us to understand the reason for your issue related to the Build Proces.
You can do this using the following way inside the IDE: Main Menu -> Help -> Report a Bug, please describe your issue or enter the link to the current topic and make sure that the 'Attach Log File' checkbox is marked.
May I please clarify with you if there are any errors if you cancel the frozen Build process?
Thank you,
Kate
