We reset passwords to all our client orgs every week so every Monday, I do the update-password dance with TWS. Not a big deal.

Today, I had 2 copies of TWS running. One that was to a solution with a single project/org was normal - I get the invalid-creds popup, I close the popup and update the project Properties with the new password, all is good.

On the other TWS, I had a solution with 2 projects. I get the popup but can't close it. I tried rebooting but that didn't help and the only way to close TWS was by shooting it in the task manager (or reboot). Eventually, I manually edited the solution file in notepad to remove one project and that allowed me to get into TWS and update the password.

I think this is related to the new version since I've had solutions with multiple projects for months.

      Hi Dave,

Thank you for reporting to us this issue and please sorry for the delay in our response.

I've added this to our backlog and we will look for a fix for this issue.

Also, thank you for your sharing the workaround that you've found - other users can use it until we fix this.

      Best Regards,

      Kate

I'm now thinking that it's not really related to multiple projects in the solution but is more about multiple failures.

When I start TWS for single project and the password has changed, I get the TWS popup about invalid creds. I can dismiss that popup and enter the new, correct credentials and everything is fine. If I enter the wrong credentials, I get the TWS popup again but can't dismiss it - I have to open the task manager and shoot TWS.

            Bump. Any update on this?

I still regularly get invalid-password on password/token values that I'm sure are correct and, after a couple wrong tries, TWS locks up and needs to be shot via the Windows task manager.

                Was it fixed recently?

I know I saw the issue this week but also know TWS updated this week to R35 / 1.32.2.4. Not sure if I saw it before or after the update. I don't know exactly which version I had before that this laptop is only a couple/few months old so it should be fairly recent.

                  Hi Dave.

Thank you for the fast reply!

Maybe we have already fixed another case. But right now, unfortunately, it has not been reproduced so far, the scenario mentioned in our previous post worked as intended during the tests.

Could you please share with us some more details on the process you had when the issue occurred, perhaps some screens or steps?

We really want to address the issue and would be glad to help you!

                  Best Regards,

                  Ihor

The locking-up issue does indeed happen less frequently but I'm sure I saw it within the last week.

I work for a consulting company and we automatically reset our client login passwords weekly. So, every week, I copy/paste the new password & token from a web page into TWS. I don't know why but the new creds frequently fail, even when I'm 100% sure that the password is correct. Sometimes it takes several tries before it stops giving me an invalid-password error. Within the last week, TWS locked up during this.

I have not been working in multi-project solutions lately, which may also be part of why I don't see it as much. Rather than having several projects fail login at once, I'm just failing one at a time now.

The resets happen over the weekend - I'll try to pay closer attention to the process on Monday AM. If there's a log or something that would help you identify what's going on, please let me know.

I was able to repro the locking-up issue just now:

                        • load a project that works and is happy
                        • right-click on the project -> properties
                        • change password to 'xxx' (or anything invalid)
                        • try 'pull from salesforce' on an apex file - this works (even with the bogus password!)
                        • close / restart TWS
                        • try 'pull from salesforce' on the apex file again
                        • receive creds error popup (correctly) but TWS is locked up - you can't close the error popup

                        This is R35 / 1.32.2.4.
