I completely understand your request and we've had at least a couple battles in the team when implementing the SOQL editor if we can or cannot implement comments.

And according to the official SOQL reference - there's no place for comments in it. We don't want to brake compatibility with all the existing approaches and applications and to invent our own SOQL standard. This is why unfortunately we won't add comments to SOQL queries themselves.

However we'll try to think over once more if we can add some additional input(s) for comment/description about the SOQL query itself to store it separately from the query, but show inside of the SOQL builder.

A separate meta-data field to store off comments for each SOQL query would be very helpful.  I am finding the option to run SOQL from TWS useful, but having a description field would certainly help.  I understand your response regarding not wanting to divert from the SOQL standard.
