    Hi Team,

    I'm experiencing high CPU usage /30% and above/ which makes TWS slow and almost impossible to work with. When restarted, the CPU usage normalizes for 5-10 mins and the problem shows up again.
    I'm using a windows machine, Intel Core i5-4460 @ 3.2, 8 GB RAM. Please let me know if you need more details.

      Did this just start recently?  On mine, I noticed yesterday Welkin locks up and has to restart mulitple times a day.  Usually when I am doing something (never the same thing) but also sometimes when I am not using it.  Each time the CPU is stuck at about 30%.  Going to try a fresh install and report back.

        No, it started after I installed it - 3-4 month ago with the trial and it continues with the Pro Subscription. I tried a re-install, but it didn't help. I'm anxious to hear from the team, because like I mentioned in my first post - it's almost impossible to work that way.

          Hi guys,

          Thank you for contacting us with this issue.

          May I please ask you to describe us what you are working on in the IDE: is it coding, unit tests, debugging, or admin tasks, etc.?

          Also, we would greatly appreciate if you can tell us which TWS panels are opened in the IDE's UI when CPU is increased.

          In addition, I kindly ask you to send us a bug report directly from the IDE when the issue would be reproduced again. This option is present in the menu Help -> Report a Bug, please enable the 'attach Log File' checkbox - this way we will receive your TWS logs - they can contain an additional information.

          Thank you,

          Kate

              Hi,

              Thank you for your response.

              The log file will be really helpful for us.

              Also, can you please tell me how many files are opened in the code editor when CPU is increased and what are the types of these files?

              Thank you.

              Kate

                  Greetings,

                  Thank you for your response and for the bug report.

                  Since the information from the log file is not enough to find the exact reason for the issue, I kindly ask you to make a Dump file when it is reproduced and send it to us.

                  If this is acceptable for you, please follow the next steps for this:

                       1. please open your Task Manager;

                       2. right click on The Welkin Suite and select the 'Create dump file' item;

                       3. as a result, you will see the dialog with a progress and a path where the file is saved.

                  Our developers will analyze this file and we will solve the issue or will provide you with a possible workaround till the issue will be fixed.

                  Thank you for your collaboration.

                  Regards,

                  Kate

                              Hi Yordan,

                              Thank you for your question.

                              We are going to release the updated version of the IDE the nearest days. This version will contain a fix for a possible reason for the issue that you are faced with.

                              Actually, the possible reason is loading information for the test result icons in the code editor for Apex classes - you can see these test results in the left column near your code.

                              I kindly ask you to update the IDE when the version Bloom R10 will be available and please let me know if the issue would be reproduced.

                              Thank you,

                                  I updated to Bloom R10, but the issue persists. One thing I noticed is that the issue appears when I open a large VF page, say with 500+ lines. And goes back to normal when I close it. Can't recall if this was the case with the previous version.

                                  Thanks!

                                         - Can you please tell me if there is available code completion functionality on the VF page that could cause the issue?

                                         - Is the issue reproduced when you are editing the page or it is just opened when CPU is increased?

                                      I've sent a log file. Unfortunatelly, the issue has gotten worse with the update to R10. Please find answers to your questions:

                                      It's not available, and when I try to work on that VF page, the IDE craches and closes. (I'm pretty sure this is after the update)

                                           - Is the issue reproduced when you are editing the page or it is just opened when CPU is increased?

                                      The issue is reproduced on every VF page when it's just opened. After page close, the IDE goes back to normal. If you try to edit - it crashes.

                                        Hi Yordan,

                                        Thank you for your answers and for the bug report.

                                        Looks like the reason for the issue is related to the code editor that is used for Visualforce pages. We continue looking for a reason.

                                        Right now, as a workaround, please follow the next steps to get an ability to work on Visualforce pages:

                                             1) please right click on the necessary page file in the Solution Explorer;

                                             2) select the 'Open With... item';

                                             3) choose the 'XML (Text) Editor' and 'Ok'.

                                        This can be a temporary solution till we are working on the issue.

                                        Also, I kindly ask you to help us in our investigation the next way: please close a solution in the IDE (if any), open File (in the main menu) -> Open -> File, and select any your Visualforce page file from a project. Please let me know if the issue would be reproduced in this case.

                                        One more possible solution could be to re-install Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Isolated Shell.

                                        If this is acceptable for you, you can do the next:

                                             1) please uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio Shell (Isolated);

                                             2) after this please uninstall The welkin Suite IDE;

                                             3) download Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 Shell (Isolated) using the next link and install it separately from the IDE;

                                             4) re-download TWS from the site and install it again;

                                             5) repeat the workaround that helped you to log in;

                                             6) and launch the IDE.

                                        After this please check again if the issue would be reproduced.

                                        Thank you for your collaboration one more time!

                                        Looking forward to your response.

                                        Thank you,

                                          Hi Kate,

                                          Thanks for the workaround. I can confirm it's working now. I'll set the XML editor as a default until the issue is resolved. Regarding the visual studio shell re-install - I already tried that several times and it didn't work.

                                          Also, I kindly ask you to help us in our investigation the next way: please close a solution in the IDE (if any), open File (in the main menu) -> Open -> File, and select any your Visualforce page file from a project. Please let me know if the issue would be reproduced in this case.

                                          The issue persist with a single VF page opened in TWS. Please find screenshots attached. The error.jpg pops up randomly when I try to make a change. The other image is with CPU usage when a single VF page is opened in TWS (The message next to TWS means "not responding" FYI)

                                            Hi Yordan,

                                            Thank you for your response!

                                            I'm glad that the workaround works for you and you could proceed your work on Visualforce pages in TWS project.

                                            We would appreciate if you could check one more thing that can help us in the investigation related to this issue:

                                            I kindly ask you to open any page in your browser, save it as HTML document (using the context menu), close all your solutions in TWS, and open this document in the IDE using the menu File-> Open -> File.

                                            Please let us know what will be the result and behavior of the editor - this one more piece of information will help us in looking the reason for the broken work of HTML editor in the IDE.

                                            Thank you,

                                              Tried the case you described with TWS Home Page. The result is - high CPU usage and slow to unresponsive IDE. Hope this would help you and the team to resolve the issue.

                                                  Hi Team,

                                                  I'm still experiencing the high CPU usage. If I use the default HTML editor for VF pages, TWS goes slow and even shuts down. Same happens when working with Lightning Components and a CSS file is included in the bundle. I'm on the same machine as described above, just with new TWS subscription. Please let me know you thoughts on this, because it is seriously affecting my work.

                                                  Regards,
                                                  Yordan Terziev

                                                    Hi Yordan,

                                                    Thank you for your post.

                                                    We continue to investigate this issue, and we found that there can be several reasons for such behavior of the IDE.

                                                    Our developers work on them steps by step, and they have already solved some of the reasons.

                                                    In general, we are aware of this behavior and we do our best to handle all the cases. So thank you for the additional details on when the issue is reproduced for you. We will take them into account and will continue to work on the performance issue in TWS for Mac.

                                                    Thank you for your collaboration a lot.

                                                        Hi Yordan,

                                                        Thank you for your post.

                                                        Since we are aware of this issue in the Mac version of the IDE, and the issue in TWS Bloom for Windows can be caused by some specific conditions, may I please clarify with you several additional details on this?

                                                        Here are my questions:

                                                        1. Is the issue stable reproduced or you began to face with this after updating the IDE?
                                                        2. What types of files do you have in your project?
                                                        3. What panels are present on your TWS UI?
                                                        4. Is the issue reproduced when you launch the IDE, open a project, or when you work using some TWS functions? If you are faced with the issue when working on a project, please let me know what functionality you use?
                                                        5. Is the issue reproduced when you work on all of your projects or for some of them?

                                                        Also, I kindly ask you to send us a bug report with the attached log files after the issue is reproduced for you - please find this functionality in the menu Help -> Report a Bug, please specify your email and enable the 'Attach Log File' checkbox. This way we would receive your TWS log files which can provide us with additional info on a reason for the issue.

                                                        Thank you,
