    Hi,

I just came across another issue (Bloom R9): I have a rather large solution (a lot of aura components and apex classes).

After authoring some changes and trying to build them the build took forever (more than 5 minutes).

I cancelled the build which did nothing either. After waiting for another few minutes i killed the TWS process.

Apparently that triggered a problem: I'm now no longer able to pull changes from SF.

If I try to build the changes (the ones I mentioned above) again TWS tells me "Please pull first". When I try that, the "pull" dialog (incl. spinner) shows up forever (> 10 minutes) but does nothing more. It DOES however send a lot of API requests to my Dev Org (visible via SF monitoring). Restarting TWS etc. does not work either. I am the only user working in that org.

I've tried to create a new solution and pull everything in there but that does not work either (stuck just like above). I also have tried resetting the user's credentials (so no OAauth) but that did not help. I can however modify the files in the Salesforce Developer Console.

    I've submitted a bug report.

    Thanks for your help

    Chris

      Hi Chris,

Thank you for contacting us with this issue and for the bug report.

Regarding the build process, it consists of 2 steps in the IDE: the IDE sends your changes to your organization and then retrieves back an information about these updates from an org (hash sum of files, date&time of the last change, etc.). We know that there are some issues related to canceling the build process in the IDE, and we will work on them for sure.

Looks like, that in the case that you are faced with, files were updated on Salesforce and when IDE requested the information, the organization didn't response anything (we can see this according to your log file). May I please ask you to check if your latest changes during that build were uploaded to your organization? This could be the reason for the requested pull when you were trying to build the files the next time.

One more question to help us understand the issue better: do you remember which files (e.g. lightning, apex, static resources, etc.) have you modified? Were there any really big files? And are there any big static resources in the project itself?

As for the pull process that took a long time and wasn't finished, the same reason seems to be the root cause of the issue in your case - the organization didn't respond to the IDE.

May I please clarify with you if the issue is still reproduced?  I'm asking this since we were faced with the similar issue today on a couple of our orgs - after a while this issue self-resolved as orgs became responsive to the API calls.

However, even in the case when your Organization was not responding to the IDE's requests - there should not be a lot of API calls to it. If you have monitored this in the org - can you please let us know at least a rough number of the calls made by the IDE during that pull process? This will help us understanding reasons of such behavior.

We keep investigating the issue, its reasons and how to resolve it as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your patience and help.

      Best Regards,

      Kate

        Hi Kate,

        sorry for the delay.

        To answer your questions:

May I please ask you to check if your latest changes during that build were uploaded to your organization?

        > Yes

do you remember which files (e.g. lightning, apex, static resources, etc.) have you modified? Were there any really big files? And are there any big static resources in the project itself?

        > 3 Apex files, those three files have about 500 lines of code each, no really big static ressources (biggest of our resources is about 42 k, TWS_Sync_Data ist 53k)

May I please clarify with you if the issue is still reproduced?

        > The issue "fixed itself" after about 2 hours

If you have monitored this in the org - can you please let us know at least a rough number of the calls made by the IDE during that pull process?

        > quite a lot, about 500-700 call in 30 minutes

        I hope this helps

        Chris

          Hi Chris,

Thank you for your response and for all the details!

I'm glad that you can proceed your working process and get all the updates from your Salesforce Organization without delays and issues.

If this would be reproduced, please let me know. We will keep our eye on similar issues and will investigate what exactly can cause them.

          Regards,

          Kate
