I just upgraded from 28 to 29.  When I reopened my project, all of the files showed as new files to TFS.  Most should be locked, a few should be checked out, none should be new.

Has something in the TFS support changed recently?  Is there a workaround?

      Hi Michael,

      Thank you for your post.

The issue that you have been faced is the result of the changes in the project structure that we made. You can see them in the project folder in your File System. The innovation is that all the files were migrated to the two sub-folders ("src" and "resource-bundles"). This is why they are recognized as new for TFS support.

This was done to get the compatibility project structure that now is acceptable for building CI.

If you have more questions, please write us. We will glad to answer them.

      Regards,

      Kate

        Kate,

Has anyone written any documentation on how to compensate for this for existing projects, while preserving file history?

        Thanks,

        Mike

          Hi again Mike,

          Thank you for this question.

All the files of your existing TWS projects were moved to other folders in the frame of the migration. We have described this process in our "Release Notes" blog post in the 'Compatible project structure' paragraph.

Since The Welkin Suite doesn't support the work with TFS directly from the IDE, this is necessary to use the TFS commands to set the new location for the old project files (to change the status for these files from 'New' to 'Moved').

Looks like this link can help you.

          Best Regards,

          Kate

Is there any way we can downgrade back to 28.2?

              Hi Michael,

              Thank you for your question.

Officially we support the last version of the IDE.

Even if we send the installer for the previous one, the projects that were opened in the last version won't be available for you due the project structure changes.

This version will be updated to the last one again.

I kindly ask to share with us if you have used the TFS commands for solving your issue related to the status of the files.

              Thank you,

              Kate

In fact, my attempts to fix the problem have made it worse.  I now cannot open the project at all, neither from its local location or from source control; it just unloads.

Is there a script I can run to get the sfproj back to the state where it mistakenly thinks all files are new?

                  Thank you for your answer.

                  There is no such script.

Our developers are looking for a workaround for your issue related to TFS.

I'll contact to you nearest days when we will have any information for.

                      Hi Michael,

Currently, we are working on your issue.

We need some more time to investigate this and find any workaround.

May I please clarify with you what exactly TFS commands did you use to set the new location for the old project files?

This information will be helpful for us to reproduce your steps.

                      Thank you,

                      Kate

                        Kate,

Actually I used Source Control Explorer to move the folders under a src folder within TFS, from Visual Studio, and tried to edit the sfproj file with a text editor to include the src/ directory as needed.  After that, I could no longer open the project.  So I put everything back the way it was, but I still couldn't open the project.

                        Thanks,

                        Mike

Going back to 28.2 did not work - the project won't build because it thinks 40 files need to be pulled from the sandbox (they don't).  Attempting to pull them, 1 or all, causes the program to blow up with "object reference not set to an instance of an object".  I'm currently unable to build or deploy anything using TWS.

If I may ask this question, since TWS is based on VS extensibility, is it using the native TFS integration, or is it using MSSCCI?

                              Hi Michael,

Thank you for your bug reports.

The Build process that requires the pull of the files when they shouldn't be pulled, can be reproduced after you open the second project after the work with the previous one.

I kindly ask you to restart the IDE and repeat the Build process for the necessary files in your project.

If the issue during the pull is reproduced after this. please send us the bug report from the IDE repeatedly.

Our developers are working on the issue related to the building process.

As for your question related to the TFS and MSSCCI, none of this is not used in The Welkin Suite.

The TWS IDE has no TFS integration.

                              Regards,

                              Kate
