    Hi,

I'm also experiencing a lot of crashes in Bloom R9.

They happen when developing Apex or Aura or when just browsing through code (have not tried running tests yet).

I'm using TWS in a larger project (one project in solution).

I even re-installed TWS this morning (and wiped my preferences as well) but it has no effect.

    I'm not using OAUTH.

EDIT: Happens with different projects as well.

I've submitted several bug reports via the IDE (after restarting it).

It would be great if you could get a handle on this issue as soon as possible since developing for more than 15min without crash is not possible at the moment.

    Thanks

    Chris

Edit 2: I attached a windows event log message. If you require a translation, please let me know.

      Hi Chris,

Thank you for your post and for your bug reports - we got them.

Our developers have started their investigation on this issue according to your log files, and I will back to you just when we will have any results.

Since you are faced with TWS crashes not during running tests, I've moved your post this separate topic.

      I will contact you asap.

      Regards,

      Kate

        Hi Chris,

May I please clarify with you the next details so that we could find the exact reason for the issue:

             1. Do you use a touch enabled device (for example, any graphic tablet) related to your computer with the installed IDE?

             2. Do you have installed .NET Framework 4.7?

             3. In the case if you have disabled the Windows swap file or if you have limited its size, is it acceptable for you to enable it or increase its size? If this would be necessary, we can provide you with the necessary steps.

All this information will help us greatly to understand why these TWS crashes occurred and how we can solve them.

Meanwhile, I kindly ask you to download and replace TWS config file with the attached one - this config file should solve most of the errors that are present in your logs. If this won't help, we will provide you with an additional solution taking into account your answers to the questions above.

For replacing the file, please follow the next steps:

             1) please close the IDE;

             2) open the next folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\The Welkin Suite\The Welkin Suite (if you installed the IDE to the default folder);

             3) replace the file;

             4) launch the IDE again.

Please check if the crashes would occur after this.

        Looking forward to your response.

        Thank you,

        Kate

          Hi Kate,

          thanks for your response.

          Please find my answers below:

          1. Yes, Microsoft Surface Book but I'm not using touch. Notebook is docked to the Surface dock with keyboard/mouse and screens attached.
          2. 4.7.02046 Full
          3. It's enabled, managed by windows, min size 16MB, recommended 1910MB, currently using (while IDE and other apps running): 7680 MB

I'll exchange the config and provide you with an update.

Let me know if you need anything else.

EDIT: The download of the config file does not work. Maybe zip it?

          Best regards

          Chris

            Hi Chris,

            Thank you for your response.

I've changed the attached file to zipped it, so now you can download it.

Please let me know about the results.

            Thank you,

            Kate

                Hi Eric,

                Thank you for your post.

Can you please send us a bug report directly from the IDE with the attached log files. This way we could analyze your TWS logs and clarify if there is the same reason for TWS crash or another one.

Also, I kindly ask you to tell me if you have installed .NET Framework 4.7 or any touch enabled device related to your computer?

                Thank you,

                Kate

                    Hi Kate,

                    thanks for the config.

I've replace the config on my machine and sent another crash log - hope it helps.

                    Beste regards

                    Chris

                      Hi guys,

Thank you for your responses and for your bug reports with attached log files.

Eric, the reason for TWS crashes that you are faced with is related to closing a file inside the IDE - in this particular case, to closing or some related operation for a log file. We have been faced with a similar issue and we will work on solving this issue.

Chris, thank you for sending us the additional log file. It seems that one of the crash reasons that you are faced with was fixed, however it's not so easy as both of us would like it to be :)
According to your latest log file, there is also one more issue that is resulting in crashes. This issue is related to the one known issue in the .NET framework - as a result, some of WPF applications might be randomly crashing over the time.
I'm not sure about the exact configuration of the Surface Book you are using, however if it does have dedicated GPU can you please navigate to the folder where The Welkin Suite is installed, right-click on the 'TheWelkinSuite.exe' file, select 'Run with graphics processor' and in the sub-menu select the non-default one (e.g. you might have integrated graphics by default - in this case, please run TWS using the NVidia GPU). Please let us know if the IDE would keep crashing.
If your Surface Book does not have the dedicated GPU or if the approach mentioned above won't help, please update drivers for your GPU to the latest ones, as this also might affect the .NET framework in general.

I kindly ask you to send us a bug report once more if neither of this steps would help resolving the issue.

Thank you guys for your collaboration!

                      Best Regards,

                      Kate

                        Hi Kate,

                        again, sorry for the delay.

I've now switched TWS to the NVidia GPU and will let you know how things proceed, though I'm no longer on R9 but R10.

                        Best regards

                        Chris
