Hi gtasker,
Thank you for this question. As it is a complex question, I'll start with some background information.
The Welkin Suite is based on the Microsoft Visual Studio Isolated Shell, and it might be expected for it to support TFS out-of-the-box, but it doesn't. Visual Studio Isolated Shell does not provide native support for TFS and only supports the general MSSCCS interface which is absolutely basic.
Team Foundation Server is a very complex product and building powerful support for it (version control, issues tracking, reviewing) in any tool requires a lot of efforts, not to say more. We won't be able to build the same great support for TFS as in Microsoft products without significantly increasing subcription pricing for all users.
This why, at least for now, after a long period of analysis and investigations we would like to focus on Salesforce-specific functionality which is not available elsewhere with the level of implementation we expect. And at the same time we assume using native Microsoft applications as the most convenient solution in most cases. In this case, you should be able to use Team Explorer for Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 (available here - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40776) as a standalone client for TFS, while working with your projects in The Welkin Suite.
In case this approach does not work for you, we would appreciate you sharing the reasons about this with us, so we could look at some other options.
Thank you,
Vladimir
